Colon, Michigan has been the center of the magic world since the 1920s. Here's the full story of how a small town became the Magic Capital of the World — and why Abra-K-Dabra is proud to call it home.

Most people pass through Colon without knowing they're driving through one of the most genuinely interesting small towns in the country. Population just over 1,000. A handful of lakes. One main street. And a history that has brought visitors here from every corner of the world for over a hundred years.

Colon, Michigan is the Magic Capital of the World. That's not a marketing slogan — it's a title this town earned.

Where It Started

In the 1920s a magician named Percy Abbott settled in Colon and founded Abbott's Magic Company. What started as a small operation selling magic supplies grew into the largest manufacturer of magic apparatus in the world. Performers, collectors, and hobbyists made the trip to this tiny Michigan town specifically to visit Abbott's — and over time Colon quietly became the gravitational center of the international magic community.

Abbott's Magic is still here. Still operating. Still drawing people in from places most people have never heard of.

The Get-Together

Every August Colon hosts the Abbott's Magic Get-Together — one of the longest-running magic conventions on the planet. Performers travel from dozens of countries. The streets fill up with people you'd never expect to see in a town this size. For one week every summer something truly unusual happens here, and locals who've watched it their whole lives will tell you it never gets old.

If you've never been, it's worth planning around.

Why This Matters to Us

Brandon Baker and Josh Mosier didn't choose Colon by accident. They chose a town with a real identity — one that has always had room for the unconventional, the curious, and the creative. A town that doesn't take itself too seriously but takes its community seriously.

There's something that fits about a cannabis dispensary planted in the Magic Capital of the World. Both have spent a long time being misunderstood. Both have a way of bringing people together who wouldn't otherwise cross paths. And both have a tendency to surprise people who walk in not knowing what to expect.

We're proud to be part of this town's story. Come see us on E State Street — open every day 8am to 8pm.
